Hey, I see you staring at that blank page, that untouched canvas, that blinking cursor. Waiting. Thinking. Overthinking.

I’ve been there. We all have. That moment when fear creeps in, whispering that your ideas aren’t good enough, that someone else could do it better, that maybe you should just stop before you even start. But let me tell you something: fear is a liar, and it kills art before it even has a chance to exist.

The Truth About Creative Fear

Every artist—every single one—has faced creative fear. The difference between those who create and those who get stuck is simple: action. The ones who push through fear don’t wait for confidence. They don’t wait for the perfect idea. They start messy. They start unsure. And in doing so, they silence fear with movement.

How to Push Past Creative Fear

Make Something Bad—On Purpose Give yourself permission to create something ugly, weird, chaotic. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s movement. Set a timer for 5 minutes and make something intentionally bad. Bad art is better than no art.

Create Before You Think Overthinking is fear in disguise. Instead of sitting there debating your next move, just make a mark. Scribble. Doodle. Write nonsense. Let your hands move before your brain has time to doubt you.

Set Ridiculous Constraints Fear thrives on too many choices. Limit yourself. Try making a piece with only two colors, or one continuous line, or using just five words. Constraints force creativity to take over and kick fear out.

Reframe Mistakes as Fuel What if every mistake was a spark? Instead of stopping when something goes “wrong,” push it further. Turn that accidental smudge into part of the design. Let the weirdness guide you.

Remember: No One Else Can Make YOUR Art Your perspective, your experiences, your way of seeing the world—no one else has that. The art you don’t make? It disappears forever. Don’t let fear steal what only you can create.

The Challenge

This week, your mission is simple: make one piece of art that scares you. Maybe it’s a style you’ve never tried. Maybe it’s sharing something personal. Maybe it’s just making anything after feeling stuck for too long. Whatever it is, do it loud. Do it unapologetically.

And when you’re done? Post it. Share it. Let it exist.

Because fear only wins if you stop.

Sketch Loudly. Stay Iconic.
